1. Client-Side Data Sovereignty

AusCalc is built with a strict "Privacy First" architecture. All tax, business, superannuation, and mortgage calculations run entirely client-side, locally inside your own web browser. We do not store, see, or transmit any of the financial inputs or data you enter into our tools. Your numbers are yours alone.

Our Tax Jar tracker saves the payments you log in your own browser (local storage) so they are still there when you come back. They are never sent to us. Delete them at any time with the tracker's Clear everything button or by clearing your browser data.

Our invoice and quote maker works the same way. Everything you type, including your business, client and bank details, stays in your browser, and the PDF is made on your device. Your business details are remembered in your own browser so the next invoice is quicker. Without an account, your invoice never leaves your browser. With a free account, only what you choose to save is stored, as set out in section 2. We only record anonymous usage, for example that an invoice was downloaded, never what is on it.

AusCalc in ChatGPT and Claude. If you use AusCalc inside an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, the assistant sends our calculator only the figures needed for the sum, for example an income or a day rate. Our server works out the answer and sends it straight back. We do not store or log those figures, we do not ask for your name, email or any account, and we cannot link a calculation to you. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps basic technical request records (such as time and IP address) for security, as it does for every page on this site. Your conversation itself is handled by the assistant's provider under its own privacy policy.

2. If You Create an Account

An account is optional. Every calculator and the invoice maker work without one.

  • What we collect: Your email address, to sign you in. If you sign in with Google, Google also gives us your name and profile picture; we never see your Google password. Then anything you choose to save: your business name, ABN, address, phone, the payment details you want on your invoices, your colours and terms, your clients' names and contact details, invoices and quotes you save, calculator inputs you save and Tax Jar entries.

  • Why: Only to run your account: show your saved work on any device, number your invoices and send the reminders you switch on. We do not sell your data or use it to advertise to you.

  • Your clients' details: You add them and you control them. Only add people you deal with. We use their details only to fill in your invoices.

  • Where it is stored: With our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Sydney, Australia. Each account can only read its own data.

  • Emails: Sign-in links, sent from an AusCalc address, and reminders you choose. You can turn reminders off any time.

  • Payments (Pro): Handled by our payment provider. We never see your card number.

  • Staying signed in: Your browser keeps a sign-in token in local storage so you stay signed in on that device. Signing out removes it.

  • Bot check: The sign-in page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person. Cloudflare reads basic browser and device signals for that check only.

  • Deleting: You can delete your account and everything in it from your account page at any time, or contact us. It is deleted straight away, except records the law makes us keep.

  • Anonymous usage: We count how tools are used (for example, that an invoice was downloaded) without names, emails or invoice contents.

3. Information Collection

Waitlist: If you join the AusCalc Pro or free account waitlist on our pricing page, we store your email address and which plan you chose with our database provider in Sydney, Australia, and use it only to tell you when that plan launches. Contact us to be removed.

AusCalc Pro payments: If you subscribe to AusCalc Pro, PayPal processes the payment. We never see or store your card or bank details. We store your PayPal subscription reference, its status and the date it renews, so we can switch Pro on or off for your account.

Toolkit orders (the Toolkit is no longer sold): For past orders, PayPal processed payment. We retain the order and payment references, checkout email address and delivery status to confirm payment, provide downloads and handle support. Cloudflare hosts the order service and Resend sends the download email. A necessary secure cookie links your browser to your order. We do not receive your card details or the figures in your spreadsheet. A Google Sheets copy is stored in your own Google account. Contact us if you need help with your order data.

We only collect information that you explicitly choose to provide to us to facilitate communications:

  • Contact Details: If you use our contact form, we collect your name and email address to respond back to your suggestion or inquiry.

  • Finance Enquiry Details: On our vehicle and equipment finance calculators you can optionally ask to be contacted about finance. Only if you tick the consent box do we collect your name, phone number, email, the type of asset and your preferred call time, and pass them, together with the figures you entered, to a licensed asset finance broker we work with so they can contact you. We may be paid a referral fee. We are not a credit provider, a broker or a credit assistance provider, and we give no credit advice. We do not pass these details to anyone else, and you can contact us at any time to have them deleted from our records.

  • Waitlist Emails: On our tax set-aside calculator you can optionally ask to hear when an automatic set-aside feature is ready. If you do, we collect your email address and, only if you give it, the name of the bank you use. We use them only to email you about that feature and to understand demand for it. They are received and stored by our form service, Formspree, in the United States. We do not share them with anyone else, and you can email us at any time to have them deleted.

4. Cookies, Google Analytics & Google AdSense

To monitor performance and fund our operational infrastructure, we utilise the following service integrations:

  • Google Analytics: We employ Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized traffic trend parameters. This tool places cookies to collect standard logging insights, ensuring no personally identifiable details are recorded.

  • Google AdSense: We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve interest-based, personalised ads to users based on their visits to this and other sites on the web. This ad personalisation keeps our suite 100% free for all Australian users.

5. Your Privacy Opt-Out Choices

You maintain full control over your online tracking preferences:

  • Opting Out of Personalised Ads: You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising at any time via the Google Ad Settings page, or by adjusting your browser's privacy settings.

  • Browser Cookie Controls: You can configure your browser to block all cookies or notify you when a cookie is placed. Our calculators remain fully functional even with cookies entirely blocked.

6. Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

Our operations are governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and we are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in managing any data or communications we receive.
